Are you ready for iMoot17?

iMoot17 is almost upon us and I am very excited. iMoot, the largest fully online LMS conference, will be held from May 18th to May 20th. Because it’s an online conference, it will be held 24 hours a day – that’s 52 hours non-stop of LMS fantasticness.

If you’re not already excited for iMoot17, you need to listen to the Free Moodle Podcast for May 2017. Stuart Mealor of HRDNZ interviews Vinny Stocker, my Pukunui colleague over in Kuala Lumpur. The podcast was released last week, and it was great to hear two of my friends talk about iMoot. Stuart is actually going to be presenting at iMoot on the Top 50 Moodle Plugins.

There’s actually quite a few good presentations in the schedule. Julian Davis, my good friend up Queensland way, has a presentation, as does Justin Hunt, author of the Poodll plugin and the best guy to show you around Tokyo. And Kristina Hoeppner is going to be talking about Mahara. And this is just the beginning – fantastic to see old friends like Don Hinkelman, Tabitha Parker and Gareth Barnard presenting too.

I’m also extremely pleased to see one of the keynote speakers is Hideto Harashima from Japan. I have very much respect for Professor Harashima. He was the founding president of the Moodle Association of Japan, and I have fondness for that association, as I’ve mentioned a few times previously in this blog.

There certainly will be a Pukunui flavour to iMoot with Vinny, Dom Seneque and Shane Elliott presenting. Will I be presenting? I’m glad you asked. I will be presenting three (yes three!) times at iMoot17. I will be presenting on Bootstrap Hacks for Teachers, which will show you some HTML & CSS tricks you can use to change the look of content in your course – without needing any of those pesky admin privileges. I’m also presenting Conditionally Yours, a primer for using Activity Completion and Restrict Access to create content that conditionally shows up for your students.

And perhaps most excitedly, I’m presenting 26 Tips to Make You a Better Moodler. This will be a crossover, where I’ll be presenting Pukunui’s Fortnightly Tips Live at iMoot! That’s right, my fortnightly free webinar falls in the middle of iMoot, so we’re going to merge both these worlds. I’m very excited, Fortnightly Tips is still getting off the ground, but I’m having a lot of fun with it. It will be exciting to present 26 tips – that’s a full year’s worth of fortnightly tips – in 45 minutes or less. Exciting or terrifyingly stressful. Either way, it’ll be fun to watch!

iMoot17 tickets are still on sale. I hope to see you there.
