I received excellent news yesterday; my workshop for Moodleposium 2016 has been accepted! I’m headed to Canberra this December.
Moodleposium is a yearly Canberra-based conference, usually held in October, for Moodle with a focus on tertiary and vocational education. This year will be the eighth Moodleposium, and it will held at the University of Canberra. The theme this year is interesting “What’s your teaching resolution?”; no doubt with the December date, they’re making us think to our New Year’s Resolutions as educators.
My resolution? As part of the Work Harder, Not Smarter stream, my teaching resolution is to learn the competencies and learning plans from Moodle 3.1, especially with respect to AQSA’s VET Quality Framework that I had to teach within as a TAFE teacher. I’m going to deliver a workshop based on the one we offer at Pukunui. My time will be a little short, but I delivered similar presentation at MootNZX, so I know it will be terrific.
Last year’s conference was the first I attended, and it was fantastic as the keynote was a really good friend of mine, Natalie Denmeade. Her talk on Gamification was brilliant as always. Last year, I also had the pleasure of co-presenting twice with my colleague and mentor Sharyn Hooper. I’ll be headed to Canberra with fond memories, but a little bit of sadness as I’ll be representing Pukunui and not SWSi TAFE this year. I’m still hoping to convince Sharyn and our fellow colleague Annette Krause to recreate our adventure, but I might be going solo. Hopefully I’ll catch up with some contacts and clients in Canberra!
If you’d like to join me, I have good news, but you have to move quick! Moodleposium Earlybird Tickets are still on sale until the 31st of October. Jump in quick and snatch up a ticket to this great conference.
I hope to see you in the nation’s capital in December!
